The Rasta law of Ganja

Deepak Chopra tells a story of being in a taxi with his brother in India and seeing a group of sudhu’s which are Indian holly men. Looking at the men Deepak and his brother were amazed, Deepak said they looked totally stoned. Deepak brother asked the taxi driver what are they taking – the drive turned and said ganja sir. The next question Deepak brother asked was can we get some?  The taxi driver said No you need to be enlightened to get it.

In the west there is a distortion as to how to use, marijuana. The majority of people today use gunja recreationally to help them chill out, but as Deepak story demonstrated there are traditions though out the world that use ganja as a spiritual tool in personal/spiritual development. Marijuana, has a long history of use in ritual and ceremonial work to help the user enter into trance and experience altered states of conciousness.

  • When used in trance work ganja can be used to influence and programme sugestions in the mind.
  • When ganja is used for meditation ganja can trigger mystical experiences insights.

The Gunja man, Ras Rock

Because of  abuse misuse and ignorance around gunja, I would like to share some of the words of wisdom from Ras Rock, I met ras rock at a time in my life when I was mis using weed. Ras Rock initiated me into a philosophies of personal growth centred around the disciplined use of what  Ras Rock calls the Holy sacrament (marijuana).  His teaching promoted what some people call Gunja Yoga and a personal code/ discipline of the use of gunja.

{Were possible I have tried to keep Ras Rocks wording and language in other case’s I have added further explanation for clarity}

The law of the herb from Ras rock

If we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them but to inform their discretion by education”Thomas Jefferson

What’s up Lloyd. Very interesting post. I didn’t realize how deep of an impact that weed had on people. I’ve never touched it. Grew up with it – but since it was the in-thing to do…I didn’t do it. I typically go against the grain.

Nice post – I must say that I learned something new.

I’ve never heard of ‘gunga’ before Lloyd, but I’ve heard of the effects marijuana has on others. Fascinating how philosophies can develop from something relatively modern.

Interesting article, thanks for sharing this :-)

Hey stu nice to see you. Ganja/marijuana use is thousand’s of year’s olds it’s teaching and philosophy are normally closely guided secrets such as in the, Holy anointing oil used by the Hebrews to anoint all priests, and later Kings and Prophets. In fact the word Ganja/ganjika / is a sanskrit word for hemp, it has a long history in Hinduism.:)

Thank’s for your contribution Stu Blessing :)
