Personal Commitment, The Road To Power

Commitment, commitment, commitment sing it loud, sing it and clear, when you make a commitment – Think Self image, Think Integrity!…  Integrity is the glue that holds your self image in place.

Your Integrity is equal to the commitments you action, this means your actions builds your self image. your self image is what bonds you to your goals and fuels your success. For example if you believe yourself to be sporty fit, your going to live into that self image. You will  be found at the gym a couple time’s a week, you will be found running around the block or in the park, living into that image.  If you care about your goals or your self image,  you need to protect  it, you need to honour your commitments and you self image – but at what cost.

“It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into
action, and discipline that enabled us to follow through.”
  Zig Ziglar

The time now is 12:30 and in seven hours I have my weekly early birds toastmasters meeting in holborn central London this is an excellent opportunity to refine my public speaking and communication skill, network and meet new and interesting people, PROBLEM, right now I have about 4 more things to finish up before bed and I need to get up at 04.30, to prepare for 0705 early bird start, hmmm…

What do you do when commitments come in conflict with each other!

I’m committed to doing a session of yoga every night, this to me is a must, I’m committed to my spiritual growth and personal development this is a major part of my self image, I’m committed to the growth and development of my websites, so I must complete outstanding work, I’m committed to the researching and developing my up and coming personal development book and products for 2011 so this two requires attention, what should I do – As with all commitments they need to be juggled in good time and they all need an investment of time to see the fruit… yes and  before I forget, sleep to is important to me for good performance… I need to add to my juggling commitments.

Having a full-time job and family commitments, I juggle my interest, projects, work around those elements, when I have 4 1/2 hours to sleep I have a perfectly good excuse not to work on my projects, interests or business, and if I do work for a couple of hours, I’ll have good excuse to miss my toastmaster’s meeting and sleep in tomorrow.

There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results. ~ Ken Blanchard

One thing I’ve learnt from my past achievements is that before you can see results you must invest time and energy to see successful results. The body is a temple and it must be treated with respect and cared for, there is a fine line between using and abusing the body, this body has its limits but when you truly desire a certain outcome you’ll find that your mind and body has a great wheel of resource that are seldom tapped. As little as seven years ago I would spent every available hour I could find from early in the morning to late at night trying to figure out the magic of Reading, writing and spelling.

I practiced this art that previously eluded me at every available opportunity, after a year or so of constant work on myself I found myself reading books that I had always dreamed of reading, books on science and philosophy psychology, history and culture, YAHOOOO I had Cracked the code.

Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal – a commitment to excellence – that will enable you to attain the success you seek.” Mario Andretti

Experience has burnt into my heart and mind that I have no excuses. I want my body to feel strong and responsive, I must commit to it. I want to share with the world my research, insights and finding in the area of personal development and learning, So am committed to it. I want to be a master communicator, I much commit to it I have already broken and shattered, the biggest hurdle of my life, I would always listen to personal development audiotapes and these guys would speak about staying committed and holding on to your vision. Things like commit to working on your plan, see the end result, be flexible, be persistent see it though to the end with ongoing focus, and commitment, I’ve conditioned myself to work diligently on my plans, where there’s a will there’s a way my father has always said, this means to me that commitment is to show will.

Where there’s a will there’s a way, with this philosophy I educated my self, working with my intuition. when I had little else a career in public speaking and personal development was the natural target. Exercising, discipline and
commitment is the active process off achieving your goals every second, minute of your commit reinforces your self image and changes the world around one, to be or attain what you desire.

Your will power is the sun and rain that give life to your commitments, your maturity is the earth which nurtures and incubates your seeds and gives birth to your results. ME (Lloyd Christie)

Maturity, commitment, wisdom

Maturity, your ability to exercise your personal power is about the maturity of your will, is about the maturity of your character not by anyone else’s standards but your own. Inside you feel the pressure or need for self growth and further maturity, this calling for many outweighs the temporary discomfort of missing out on a bit sleep, it outweighs by far the thrills off watching TV, play computer games or chilling senselessly. When you feel the call inside to mature to be more, you must answer it because the pressure of not answering the call is a sign that you are not on track and to ignore the signs is a sign of immaturity.

What is commitment about, it’s about integrity, it’s about exercising maturity of choices, commitment is about making the wise choice, one that balance the needs of today with you vision for tomorrow, commitment is about maintaining a positive self image, when you break a commitment you harm your self image, weakening your integrity.

Commitment making the wise choice

Commitment is a sign of what you value. This value is weighed against short term and long term needs, that calls for mental maturity, this maturity is something only you can summon You must answer your own calling to mature in your personal discipline, are you going to show maturity in your emotions, intellect, attitude and wisdom. It’s
funny because wisdom is a rare word in the Western language we tend to focus on the smart but sometimes the smart ass gets is ass kicked, because they’re to busy being smart and not wise. Wisdom is a sign of maturity and Balanced holistic thought.
