What is the Philosophy of Personal Development.
Well, let’s start from the basics; The first part of the phrase, the word Philosophy, is a system or way of thinking that guides our behavior. we can call this system our Life Philosophy. Our Life Philosophy consist of Core Principles and Beliefs that dictate your Actions. We use these Beliefs to justify our Actions or Inactions. our Beliefs tell us when to start/stop, eat and to sleep. our Beliefs tell us what is possible for your life and what is not. our beliefs make up the body of our Philosophy of life or Ethos.
The second part of the phrase is Personal Development, So Check out article (What is Personal development). All in all the Philosophy of Personal development is about incorporating the Core Principles of Personal development into a Philosophy of Life.
- The Philosophy of Personal development is ultimately about, embodying this Spirit of continual progress into ones Character, the bearer is now armed with the tools to boldly and consciously participate in his or her own self actualization.
A Person may display this Philosophy of Striving in many forms such as in
This maybe Overcoming or learning difficulties, Over coming challenges. These challenge maybe the Challenge thrown up in day to day life, in Relationships, Work ,Finding time to study while working two Jobs, Running a Business, Personal Organization, finding Motivation, Physical handy cap, making your life work with a Health issue or Illness/ Learning Disabilities, working to understand and Overcoming Additions.
Philosophy of life
Philosophy Self Actualisation is as old as time. I Remember my mentor once saying – Things are either growing or withering, nothing stays the same, so you have two choices to grow and address challenges, or wither. In reality every life from on the planet in faced with a challenge unique to its environment, this is the game of life.
A Philosophy of Personal development can help you in many ways but here my top three:
In our modern era we are constantly faced with this force of change. The world of a child changes rapidly on his/her journey to adulthood. Gone are the are the days, when childhood was the only stage rapidly expanding growth, awareness and consciousness. In order to remain relevant in the 21st century you’re knowledge, attitude and life philosophy requires continual enlightened, in the same manner as a child experiences enlightenment.
Evolution is about riding the waves of time
A core Principle of the Philosophy of Personal development Is the ability to ride the waves of time, this requires you to….
“The searching-out and thorough investigation of truth ought to be the primary study of man”.
Let go back to basics, children have an innate quality that allows them to be inquisitive, flexible, adaptable, inquisitive and playfulnessand dynamic. Two of the qualities that stands out in children is inquisitiveness and playfulness. Inquisitiveness and Playfulness are qualities shared with geniuses and pioneers, in fact childrens inquisitive and playful nature is shared with all great creative people to some degree…
Cicero ought to have said the searching out threw thought investigation is the primary study of man and woman, because we owe our very existence on the planet to this innate drive to investigate. This inquisitiveness or innate drive to investigate has spread the seed of humanity cross the entire surface of the globe across river’s and over mountains – this observation of mans nature reveals mans first pillar of philosophy of personal development inquisitiveness.
Inquisitiveness is Our key to freedom – which uncovers – Doors to new opportunity – Humanity owes its greatness to its inquisitive nature. It is this very inquisitiveness that drives the engines of personal development and growth in the infant years and all through childhood to adulthood.
The results of your inquisitiveness can have great benefits in propelling you to new personal Plateaus of understanding. This heightened or expanded awareness can be used to better not only your personal conditions but society as well.
Core Principle Two: Playfulness
“The master of the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labour and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which; he simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both. Buddha
Core Principle Three: Remember your Centre “The only journey is the journey within”.
Rainer Maria Rilke
Rainer manria rilke states the simplest of all life’s truths is that the only journey is the journey within. Their can be no lasting value any of life’s pursuits if there is no movement in your being, every pursuit in your life’s journey should cause a benefited or valuable reorientation within. All life’s pursuits are in effort to causes an inner reorientation of consciousness and awareness; this is what we call personal enlightenment.
Goal of our journey, you find value and forfillment events in lifes journey. On a spiritual note every thing we do in life is to add our spiritual growth. Life experience further the maturity or consciousness and awareness.
Philosophy of Personal Development is a Philosophy of Excellence
The following quote is from Aristotle his words are relevant now as they were when he wrote them, and what is especially interesting is that these words could just as easily come out of the mouth one of the modern day personal development speakers ie Anthony Robbins…
‘Excellence is an art won by training and habituation (habit). We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit’Aristotle.
Aristotal could of gone on to say excellence is a product of progress philosophy. People who apply the wisdom of a Progressive Philosophy, will be Invigorated and Enlivened with the spirit of Personal Gravitas and Power, which is found in the champions of our modern era and men and woman of old.
